
A new Xbox Series X model is currently being investigated by Microsoft, according to rumors circulating online.
Speaking on the Xbox Era podcast, Tsiptal Nick revealed that he has heard that Microsoft is looking at releasing a new model of their current generation console without the disc drive. Additionally, the company apparently plans to release other hardware sometime in 2025. What this other hardware is hasn't been specified, so we don't know if it's a mid-generation update like the Xbox One X or something else entirely. Since an APU that would power this new console is apparently not in the works, as revealed by reliable AMD leaks, the unspecified hardware is unlikely to be a more powerful Xbox Series X model.
Releasing an Xbox Series X Digital model makes a lot of sense, even nearly three years into the generation, to offer a cheaper option for those still on the fence about the console.
