It's been a while since we heard about the OnePlus Open, and although the confirmation was made back at MWC 2023, it's only been recently since we started hearing about the new foldable. It started with renders that showed us what the device would look like and then the rumors surrounding the name. Today's tidbit tells us how the phone has been delayed, but for good reason.

Based on a tip from Max Jambor, a trusted OnePlus tipster, the company has delayed the OnePlus Open so they can change the panels from BOE to Samsung. Originally, the foldable was going to use a panel from BOE, but instead it will use Samsung's foldable panel, which is definitely good news not only for Samsung, but for consumers, and Samsung Display is undoubtedly the best choice for any screen.

Now, originally, the OnePlus Open was supposed to debut sometime in August, but with this delay, we're not sure when this is going to happen. It is sure to debut this year. We don't know the exact timeline. One more thing that comes to mind is the panels that OnePlus will be using. I really hope they use the new panels from Samsung found in the latest Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 series because they are advanced compared to their counterparts. Still, we'll have to wait and see how it turns out.

As for the specs, the OnePlus Open is said to have some powerful specs including a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 7.8-inch internal display with a 6.3-inch cover display. You get a 4800 mAh battery, 67W wired charging and a triple camera system on the back. The camera system is going to be a 48+48+64 megapixel system, including a primary camera, ultra-wide camera and a periscope sensor that handles the zoom functions. Simply put, the new foldable OnePlus will be a good alternative to everything else available in the market.

This is also a great reminder that even Xiaomi is working on its foldable, which will debut this year. We're going to have stiff competition for all the foldable phones on the market, and I can't wait to see how that plays out. OnePlus Open looks very promising. Let's hope as a debut foldable for the company, it manages to make a mark.
