MSI Rolls Out AMD AGESA 1.0.0.7c BIOS Firmware for AM5 Motherboards, Improves DDR5 Support

MSI is the first motherboard manufacturer to release the latest AMD AGESA 1.0.0.7c BIOS firmware for its AM5 motherboards.

There is a new AMD AGESA "1.0.0.7c" BIOS firmware out and MSI is the first to roll it out for their AM5 motherboards

AMD's motherboard partners recently released the latest AGESA 1.0.0.7b BIOS firmware, which is also known as Patch B. The new BIOS brought some major improvements to the AM5 platform as it allowed support for high-speed DDR5 frequencies that were previously impossible. We've seen several memory OC records above DDR5-9000 MT/si over the past few weeks with more on the way, but it looks like a new BIOS is already on the horizon.

Today, MSI releases its first BIOS based on the latest AMD AGESA 1.0.0.7c (Patch C) firmware. One of the first motherboards to land this BIOS is the MSI MEG X670E ACE, and you can grab it at this link. I can also confirm that the new BIOS is indeed the latest AMD Patch C which can be seen in the SMU checker:

Although no details are officially available yet, the new AMD AGESA firmware will further improve DDR5 DRAM support. According to leaker, Chi11eddog, the new BIOS firmware will fix boot issues when running a specific set of modules from manufacturers.

There's no list of what these DRAM modules or kits are, but it's easy to find out if your memory kit that didn't previously run on the existing AMD Patch B runs on the newer Patch C without issue.

The SMU remains the same, and we're also told that the Patch C BIOS further adds tentative support for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 APU series that was there since the old Patch A and Patch B. These APUs are expected to launch later this year, but they may move into next year based on supply and demand for wearable SKUs.
