Like a dragon: Was! is the remastering of Yakuza: Ishin, an action-adventure game originally released for PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation 4 (PS4) in 2014.
Developed by RGG Studio and published by Sega, the game is a spin-off of the Yakuza series and promises remastered graphics on Unreal Engine 4, as well as expanded content and more modern features.
It launches today for PC (via Steam), PS4, PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
In the story, players take control of Sakamoto Ryoma , a brave samurai who really existed and who is embodied here in the figure of Kazuma Kiryu , a classic character from the Yakuza series. See below for more information on the story, gameplay and title requirements.
The story and gameplay of Like a Dragon: Ishin!
The action of Like a Dragon: Ishin takes place in Kyo, a fictional version of 1860s Kyoto . After being accused of murdering his master, Sakamoto Ryoma embarks on a journey of revenge that promises to change Japan's history and end the age of the samurai. Various iconic characters from the Yakuza series, such as Goro Majima, Ryuji Goda and Shun Akiyama , are also in the cast and bring an unexpected dynamic, with several surprises and twists.
Unlike the conquest of Yakuza: Like a Dragon in 2021, Ishin comes without support for subtitles. It is not yet clear whether the function will be available via an update in the future.
The game features four different fighting styles: Swordsman, Gunslinger, Wild Dancer and Brawler. As the names suggest, the clashes are visceral, allowing for a mix of feudal swords and firearms, representing the historical transition between classic swordsmanship and modern armed warfare.
Following the example of the other games in the series, Like a Dragon: Ishin will also have many mini-games to enjoy . They include games of rock, paper and scissors, fishing, karaoke, sake disputes, traditional card games such as Oicho-Kabu and Koi-Koi, among other activities.
