As expected, Baldur's Gate 3 continues to rise. On its third day since launch, it set its third top concurrent player record, replacing Respawn's popular free-to-play battle royale game Apex Legends in Steam's top 10 on top 10 concurrent players with 646K users recorded by SteamDB.
At this point, it's not at all far off ninth place, which is currently occupied by Gaggle Studios' indie game Goose Goose Duck with 702K concurrent players). The eighth spot, occupied by Avalanche Software's megahit Hogwarts Legacy, currently seems a little too far with its all-time peak of 879K.
While the developers are certainly quite excited about these player characters, they also continue to fix and improve the game. A few hours ago, they deployed the first hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3, which fixes a ton of bugs and also temporarily disables cross-save. This feature is currently unused anyway, as it will only come in handy when the PlayStation 5 version debuts on September 6, and it caused some issues.
Here's a list of the most important crash fixes, in case you were unfortunate enough to be caught in one of these:
Meanwhile, following the release of the Party Size increase mod (which has now received an update to not only be compatible with the hotfix, but also allow up to 16-player groups), there's another notable mod on the Nexus. This unlocks the default level cap of Baldur's Gate 3, which is 12, to potentially allow players to get to D&D's traditional level cap of 20. There is one caveat that you will not be able to exceed level 12 with any individual class. Still, you can do it using multiclassing as shown in the featured image, where level 20 was achieved with a level 12 Fighter/level 8 Barbarian combo. It's not a huge limitation anyway, given that Larian has removed the attribute requirements for multiclassing in Baldur's Gate 3, so all characters can be multiclassed to whatever they want.
Moden offers three variants. The first one only unlocks the level cap but doesn't give any XP boost, meaning you can get a level or two higher than 12 if you really go all out. The second variant halves the required XP to level up, therefore allowing players to potentially reach level 20 if they squeeze every experience point out of Baldur's Gate 3. The final variant essentially allows you to max levels with only 200 XP and is meant to be used only for testing rather than serious play.
To install the Level 20 (Multiclass) mod, simply download the file via Nexus Mods and extract it to the Baldur's Gate 3/Data folder. Let us know in the comments how you get on with the mod and the game as a whole.
