AEW: Fight Forever - "Road to Elite" career mode skills you need to unlock

Success in AEW: Fight Forever "Road to Elite" career mode depends heavily on upgrading your skills, but which ones should you choose? During a typical Road to Elite playthrough, you'll only be able to choose a few select skills, and some are definitely more useful than others. Obviously it's up to you what you choose, there really isn't a wrong answer, but here are some very useful ones that you shouldn't pass on.

Momentum Rate

It's largely up to you which basic stat skills to update, and some are so obviously beneficial that they don't really need to be mentioned. Which, obviously, having stronger punches and grips is probably a good thing. That said, be sure to increase your momentum rate as soon as possible. AEW: Fight Forever is all about building momentum, so you're going to want to be able to do that as quickly as possible.

Guard break

If momentum is very important in Fight Forever, the other core mechanic is guarding. As such, this skill, which allows you to break an opponent's guard with a powerful blow, is very useful to the point of being overpowered. But hey, that's not your problem.

Bail Out

One of the slightly frustrating things about Fight Forever is that there isn't always much you can do to defend yourself or get back into the fight when you're down on the mat. At least not until you unlock Bail Out, which lets you roll out of the ring to safety when you're knocked down.

Kip Up

Similar to Bail Out, Kip Up gives you another option when you've been put on your back. This skill allows you to either get up with a press of the circle button (or Xbox equivalent) when you have your signature or special, or respawn right after being thrown, provided you have the timing right.

Gravel

Has your opponent hit their special? Does it seem like it's all over? Well, if you unlock Grit, you may still be able to score that miracle at the last second.

Tit for Tat

But hey, it's better not to let your opponent land that special! This can boost your momentum to max once your opponent has gotten their special, allowing you to go toe-to-toe with your own.

Elite defense

Another skill that can prevent the opponent from finishing the match properly. This skill gives you a chance to reverse a finisher, which will also result in a large swing in momentum from your opponent to you.
