Apple's latest iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 updates will include many front-facing features that users have been asking for for a while. While Apple has implemented some of these features, the company also ensures that users should be given the ability to be in control of their behavior. With that said, the company implemented a new feature in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, which will limit users to using their iPhone or iPad at arm's length.
iOS 17 will bring a new Screen Time feature that will limit users to use their phones at a certain distance
Users should use screens from a distance, otherwise it will strain their eyes. Apple built a Night Shift feature into iOS that allowed the device to reduce the emission of blue light, which has various disadvantages, including sleep problems. According to Apple, the new feature is designed for children to reduce the risk of nearsightedness.
If you're not familiar, the new feature will allow individuals to use their iPhone remotely. If the device is too close to their face, beyond the set limit, the iPhone will display a message suggesting that "iPhone is too close". iOS 17 will use the Face ID sensors to make the feature work. The TrueDeoth sensor will measure the distance between the iPhone and the user's face and recommend whether the person should keep a distance from the screen.
When the iPhone is moved away to a safe distance, a check mark will appear on the screen, highlighting that it is now safe to use the device. If you're running the latest iOS 17 beta 1 on your iPhone, you can check out the feature by heading over to Settings > Screen Time > Screen Distance . Furthermore, the function is available on all iPhone and iPad models with Face ID. This means that only the iPad Pro models will receive the feature. Other models have Touch ID in the power button, which prevents the device from measuring the distance between the user's face and the screen.
Apple has packed a host of accessibility features into iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, which will be available on all compatible iPhone and iPad models. The platform will also include a personalized voice feature that allows individuals to create their voice on the device. The company has made the necessary changes throughout the operating system where users can use their voice, such as FaceTime. iOS 17 will be released to the public later this year in September alongside the new iPhone 15 series.
